The Piper

The LP3 is the worlds first elbow PRV with inlet and outlet ports at 90 deg. This is a lot more economic, compact and yet with better flow rates than the W3 also. It saves space in the already congested ducts, saves cost of an elbow joint used in piping arrangement (as this is installed in lieu of an elbow fitting). Another big plus is the low scrap value of SS thereby reducing chances of theft. This is quite a contractors choice. of course this model misses the buit-in filter option currently.

Introduction :

The LP3 is a direct acting, Balanced seat design, Diaphragm operated PRV with a unique elbow design for cost savings and superior flow.

• Nylon reinforced NBR diaphragm for better strength and longer life.
• Moving parts are of low weight engineering plastic (with metal insert) to ensure quick response time to changes in inlet pressure or flow conditions. Prevents water hammer, noise and give smoother pressure control.
• Elbow design helps reduce cost of an elbow joint and otherwise also reduces cost of PRV
• SS304 stainless Steel body*. No lead. Saves cost , also since scrap value of SS304 is low, chances of theft reduces.
• Corrugate shaped diaphragm that increases its flexibility thus increasing its fatigue life. Also surface area is increased, thus allowing a compact PRV. (lesser diaphragm diameter)
• Thin walled diaphragm which is more sensitive to small changes in pressure .( strength is compensated by nylon layer reinforcement )

15mm Varie W21 
The W21 is a compact PRV meant for safety of individual apparatus like boiler , water purifier etc. where flow rate demands are lesser. Also, since kitchen branches demand lesser flow rate compared to bathroom it can be fitted in kitchen branch lines too. However ,When fitted in bathroom lines there is some compromise in flow rates compared to the W3 whose overall performance is also better. Also, though the built-in filter is still available in W21 (on request) the cleaning of same is cumbersome as it involves removal of the entire internals and spring etc unlike in W3 where filter cleaning is much easier due to the "dual open design" (and easiest with the filter self cleaning attachment.) But none can beat the cost effectiveness of the W21 in the diaphragm operated category.

Application :

The W21 PRV is designed to protect household appliances like Boilers, water purifiers washing machine etc. from pressurization damage. It is also useful in saving water consumption at basin, sink or bath outlets. Reducing pressure and maintaining it a constant level minimizes flow noise in installation. However for multi draw-off applications such as for entire bathroom i.e. in branch or downtake line or for commercial use the W3 model will be more ideal due to higher flow capacity. By installing a PRV, the pressure can be set to desired value and maintained constant even when there is wide inlet pressure fluctuation. 

Method of Operation

  Spring loaded pressure reducing valves operate by means of a force equalising system. The force of a diaphragm operates against the force of an adjustment spring. If the outlet pressure & therefore diaphragm force fall because water is drawn, the then greater force of the spring causes the valve to open. The outlet pressure then increases until the force between the diaphragm & the spring are equal again. The inlet pressure has no influence in either opening or closing of the valve. Because of this, inlet pressure fluctuation does not influence the outlet pressure.

• More over Diaphragm is thin walled , corrugation shaped for better flexibility & smoother operation. Increased surface area of diaphragm reduces overall size of PRV. i.e. compactness.

• ‘Cartridge’ design internals - entire working mechanism is in a cartridge which operates independent of the body. Thus, servicing is without removing body from pipeline.
• In-built provision for inserting pressure gauge.

• The W21 has a unique inclined seat arrangement which gives more flow capacity as compared to other household PRVS.
